Some presenting auf Deutsch and new events

Following on from last week's 16 piece brass ensemble concert with the HfMT Köln department, this week saw another brass ensemble project, but this time it was a slightly smaller ten piece ensemble, and we performed in the Orchestrer Zentrum NRW in Dortmund. This was my first time moderating an entire concert in German and with a microphone, which was a very good experience for me. Even if some of my jokes didn't translate well into German... The project was conducted by Jan Boeme, a bass trombonist from the Gürzenich Orchester Köln, who did a great job putting the ensemble through its paces to deliver an enjoyable hour-long concert on Thursday evening. This week some exciting new events have also been confirmed in my events section, with some concerts in October with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Paavo Järvi, and Lang Lang playing both in Bremen and also in Duisburg in the city's new concert hall. Another great project which I am very excited about is the tour of new music with Sinfonia NRW in January 2017. I performed with this ensemble early this year too and it was a fantastic experience with interesting new compositions, all organised by the fantastic Johannes Marks, a composer from Dortmund. This week I have my final exam in HfMT Köln on Monday morning, followed by an appearence with Eigelstein Brass in one of our trumpet player's exams, playing the Malcolm Arnold Quintet. On Wednesday I head off to Bad Dürkheim in Germany's wine region to begin rehearsals with World Brass for some up and coming concerts over July, then I have a brief free window on Tuesday Evening which I am filling up by going to see Beyonce in concert in Düsseldorf. I can't wait to see this gig as it is currently on a world tour and getting incredible reviews everywhere it goes... no doubt I will raving about it this time next week! Until then have fun! F
